Sure, Colorado Springs is only an hour away from us, but finding a free weekend to get away and spend some time as a family definitely constitutes a "trip."
Anyway, our primary purpose in the Springs was to go to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It is in a beautiful location on the side of Cheyenne Mountain, and Landon is finally at the age we thought he would appreciate the animals. We went down on Saturday and came back Sunday morning. It was wonderful. Here are some photos from our getaway.

Landon, Mommy and the Lions. Yes, Landon has a "monkey on his back." It's a harness for walking but he didn't stay in it too long.
Slides! Thank goodness the zoo had a playground. He loved it!
We were able to see giraffes up close. REAL close. I don't even have the zoom on! Landon wasn't quite sure what to think of this guy.
On our drive home this morning, we stopped at Starbucks and figured we would let Landon drive the rest of the way back ;-)
(Okay, relax, he's not drinking Starbucks OR Driving. He's "drinking" out of Mommy's empty cup as we sat in a parking lot).

What you mean you DON'T let him have coffee and drive?
Shit.
Don't tell anyone Meredith and Maxwell House got us home from Myrtle Beach.
