From Chuck-E-Cheese to Dancing: A Random Post

We took Landon to Chuck-E-Cheese for the first time a few weeks ago. He was as happy as a kid at....well....Chuck-E-Cheese! He loved anything he could "drive." Steering wheels are the best!

"I'm a big boy now!" Who needs highchairs? Big boys belly right up to the bar with their sippy cups.

Always the observer. Landon enjoyed playing in the fountains just one day before this photo was taken. Of course, that was when he was fully clothed. When we took him back the next day in his swim trunks, he wasn't so sure about it.

We bought a carseat the other day as a "backup" for airplane trips and other purposes. Landon liked the box but so did Daddy!

Landon likes to dance. Landon likes to climb. Here he is doing both things at once!

Deer/Cat/Landon

And now for a happy post!

We often see deer roaming behind our house. This weekend was no exception. Check out the party! The deer was keeping an eye on us and the neighborhood kitty, the neighborhood kitty was keeping an eye on the deer, and Landon was taking it ALL in from the window. He could have watched them all day.

Back to Normal

Thank you to everyone who expressed their concern for Landon over the last week. The rash is gone except for just a few remaining bumps. Now the scratch marks from all of Landon's itching just need to heal. Looks like our baby is on the mend!

Update: The Rash is Worse Today!

Roseola? Coxsackie? Chicken Pox?

What is going on with our baby? The last week + has unfolded like this:

Tuesday, July 1:
Picked up Landon from daycare and noticed he was warm. Took his temperature at home and it was 101.3 or so.

Wednesday, July 2:
Landon woke up with a temperature of 103.5. No daycare for him. We gave him Motrin and that brought it down, but it didn't get any lower than the 101 range and it would spike back up to the 103's before we could give him more Motrin. Took him to the doctor and it was 103.7 by then. They thought he had an ear infection but it was hard for them to see since he was screaming so much and wouldn't sit still. Prescribed him Amoxicillin.

Thursday, July 3:
No change from Wednesday. Fever was still over 103 and Landon was miserable.

Friday, July 4:
No fireworks for us. Fever was still over 103 most of the day.

Saturday, July 5:
Sometime late Friday night/early Saturday morning, Landon's fever broke. He got down under 100 finally but right as the fever broke, he developed a rash on his back, chest, neck and face. We called the on-call pediatrician and explained what happened. He thought it might have been Roseola all along considering he developed the rash right as the fever broke and that's why his temperature was so high for so long. He said we probably didn't need to continue the antibiotics.

Sunday, July 6:
Landon still had the rash but not a fever. Seemed to be feeling more like himself.

Monday, July 7:
Rash is all but gone and fever was a non-issue. Sent him to daycare again. When I picked him up though, he was having horrible mood swings until he went to bed. He was like a different baby.

Tuesday, July 8:
No rash, no fever. Sent him to daycare. Still a little grumpy at night but not as bad as Monday.

TODAY, Wednesday, July 9:
No problems this morning so took Landon to daycare. About 3:30 pm I got a call from Landon's daycare. They said the rash was back and is all over his body. It had been getting progressively worse all day so they wanted to let me know. I called the pediatrician and got the last appointment of the day. I left work quickly, picked him up and took him to the doctor.

The rash was horrible and Landon was hysterical as we waited to be seen. It was the worst I had ever seen him. He was also running a slightly elevated fever again but they couldn't see any signs of the ear infection they had first diagnosed him with last week. His rash this time is on his legs, feet, arms, hands, neck, bottom, and face. The chest and back don't seem to have much of anything. He does have sores in his mouth though. Because of the symptoms, this time the doctor thinks it might be coxsackie (hand, foot, mouth disease). He also suggested it could be chicken pox but we wouldn't know that yet since chicken pox starts out as a rash in the beginning. Either way though, he thinks its viral so we will have to wait it out.

Our poor baby!!! He has been through so much lately. Here are some photos I just took of him tonight.

New toy!

Slides, slides and more slides. I'm not sure what the fascination is with them, but Landon thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread. And let me tell you, Landon loves bread! This is his newest toy. I think it's a winner!

Here's a video of the sliding too! I'm having problems embedding it in the blog, but I guess you can still view it here.

A couple observations about the video:
1. I speak in "baby talk" a lot more than I realize!
2. Our carpet looks pink in the video. Really, it's not.
